Ok, so this Laptop that i recently got is a Acer Aspire V3-771G-6851. This thing came with Windows 8 pre-installed and everyone had said that there was no way to remove it and install anything else. They were wrong. Here are the specs.
CPU: Intel Core i5-3210M 2.5GHz
Memory: 6GB DDR3 (max supported 8GB)
Hard Disk: 750GB
Graphics Card/s: (Nvidia Optimus) /w Intel HD 4000 Sandy Bridge + Nvidia Geforce GT 640M 2GB
Resolution / Screen: 17.3″ @ 1600 x 900 LED
Atheros Internal Wireless card
Atheros Bluetooth 4.0 Adapter
Ok so this thing was a pretty good deal for being a gaming laptop that was only 670 dollars. I had known about Windows 8 being locked to motherboards, and it did kind of worry me at first. I did research and it wasn’t to hard to turn off UEFI. I will explain the install of Linux Mint 14 Cinnamon 64bit in the next post.
